A collection of colored pencil drawings by Trumansburg artist Jim Kozlowski will open on January 19 at Felicia’s Hive 45 Restaurant and Bakery, 45 East Main Street, Trumansburg NY. Wine and cheese will be served during the opening reception, 5pm-7pm on January 19, in addition to Hive 45’s regular dinner menu.
Kozlowski is best known for founding the Wizard of Clay in Bristol, NY, where he worked full-time as a master potter for 37 years before retiring to Trumansburg in 2014.
"My first love has always been two dimensional work," says Kozlowski. "Since my retirement, I've had the time to get back to my camera, brushes, and colored pencils. In my new studio I started painting acrylics, often using the technique of impasto, thick paint applied with a palette knife. A workshop about drawing with colored pencils gave me a new direction for my expressions. My photos of flowers and plants provide the influence for my drawings."
The show at Felicia's Hive 45 will run through March 2017. An additional artist meet-and-greet will take place near the end of March.
